2018 Chicago Bears Camp & Preseason

As I look back on this year's camp I couldn't be more grateful that it's over. After 5 weeks I am more than happy to have Pat back with us, even if it's just a few hours a day. Since we had a new coach and we played the Hall of Fame Game we reported to camp almost 10 days earlier than the rest of the teams in the league. On top of that since Pat was coming off of injured reserve he had to report 4 days earlier.

Before this year I would rarely go to camp and watch practices. I have always stayed in Texas until regular season, and although that was the original plan this year I decided last minute that I wanted to be in Illinois so I was somewhat closer to Pat with Aveline.

I couldn't tell you how grateful I am to have made this decision because Tiny girl was a hot mess without her dad. It took her a good two weeks before she wouldn't consistently ask "hi dada?" when she came downstairs in the morning and all throughout the day. Sorry, sister. It's just me again... jokes on you! Eventually we got into our own swing of things but I quickly realized that the days we saw Pat she was much happier and a lot easier to deal with, so we started attending practices and driving to camp every few days so she could spend an hour with him after his practice. I never thought I'd drive three hours round trip just to spend an hour with someone- or even how important it would be for Av.

This could be my favorite picture of them of all time, such a sweet embrace.

We are so grateful to have been in camp this year and are so, so thankful for every opportunity we get in this league. I can't believe how slowly and quickly this preseason has gone. Tomorrow we will have our fifth and last preseason game against the Bills at home. It will be Aveline's second football game but our first night game. Here's to hoping she doesn't lose all of her marbles on me- ha!
