Cheers to you, 2018
When I tell you we took on a lot in 2018 most of you won’t understand the magnitude of just how much.
Not only did we spend the year enjoying and nurturing our fist little love, we decided to add another sweet babe to our family. Thank God, Pat worked his ass off and made a full recovery from his ACL surgery. He proved himself to not only himself, but to the Bears and the NFL and went on to have one of his most successful seasons.
We bought an amazing piece of land in Central Texas, and for six months out of the year have worked tirelessly to build a really great team to help us design and build our next dream. One that will hopefully take flight in 2019. I’ve been so guarded and private with sharing this dream because it is SO BIG and something that I am waiting until the perfect moment to share.
We got to take our sweet Aveline to Pensacola twice, spent time with my parents camping in the beautiful West. Showed her Yellowstone, Glacier, and Teton National Parks. We drove over 9,000 miles in road trips and took more than a dozen flights. We spent time with the ones who love us most. We treasured the simplicity of sitting on our land drinking beers and laughing about life. We embraced the craziness of football season and dragging Aveline to almost every game Pat played in.
This year we’ve truly embraced love. Being in love, showing love, and understanding the magnitude of love- what it means and how you can be love and share it.
We proved that your life doesn’t stop with kids by traveling just as much as we did in the years before. While it was more challenging because you have way more (not sure how a tiny human needs so much?) it was more rewarding as well. Seeing the world through Aveline’s eyes is the best thing and I can’t wait to see it through another baby’s eyes soon.
2018 was full of big birthdays, Pat turned 30 and Aveline turned 1. It was full of our house being jammed pack with family members most weekends and late nights with the ones we love the most drinking just the right amount of beers ;)
I will truly cherish 2018 for the rest of my life. For the laughs and memories it gave us, I am always hoping I cherished it enough. I was talking to my best friend’s brother the other day and I asked him how do we cherish life more? In the moment we know we’re going to miss the moment we’re in, so we try to cherish it, but when we look back we wish we would’ve held onto it just a little tighter. So this year I’m going to promise myself to stay in each moment, take more still frames in my mind instead of reaching for my phone, and take more videos so I can encapsulate the tiny laughs, facial expressions and life’s happenings forever.
Our last family pictures of 2018, and I promised Pat our last photoshoot before the baby comes! Thank you, Meagan of Blossom Lane Photography for capturing this sweet time for us!
