Week 3 + 4 Recaps

Week 3: Bears @ Cardinals

When we found out we were playing in Arizona this year I was so excited. Our good friends live in Phoenix and one of Av’s uncles lives just outside of it, making attending the game a no brainer.

Honestly, I don’t know who I think I am because I make these plans and then when I realize how much work it is and how hard it is to travel that far, by myself, with a baby I realize it’s not worth it. This season has definitely been a transition for me, too. I used to be at almost every single game for Pat- home and away. My crazy pants self thought that was going to be the case this year, but I am slowly realizing how convenient, and better, it is to stay home for the games that are farther than a 2 hour flight from Chicago. It hasn’t been a hard transition, but missing games is definitely a tough pill to swallow some Sundays.

I cancelled our Arizona trip the week before and decided to stay home so we could spend Pat’s off day with him. Last season his off day was Tuesday which allowed me to travel home on Monday and not miss the day with him. This year with it being on Monday I’ve realized how much it’s worth to me and Av to be home so we can spend the day with him.

Week 4: Buccaneers @ Bears

I was looking forward to this weekend for so long. When the schedule is released in the spring our best friends are always the first ones to hop on booking their weekends. It’s honestly hilarious how fast they act but I’m so, so grateful they do. Over the years we’ve learned that we need to limit visits and take some space and time for ourselves during season, so having our friends choose their weekends ahead of time so we can space things out is something that works for us and makes our seasons more enjoyable.

One of my best friends, Kenzie, her husband and daughter flew up for the weekend with us. It was so fun to have the girls together now that Aveline is older and understands how to “play” with older kids. It was so cute to watch them interact and hang out. Aveline definitely liked Attie more than Attie liked her but with time I’m sure they’ll be the best of buds. I’m so excited that Kenz, Tim, and Attie live in Austin because it’ll make me and Av’s transition easier while we’re making such a big move.

Attending games with Kenzie and Tim is always so special to me. When Pat got signed with the Ravens mid season in 2015 Kenz and Tim drove to Houston to see his very first NFL regular season game. Having Attie attend her first NFL game to watch Pat was such a cool moment for me. I’ll never get over how special this crazy career and life is, and how grateful I am for the handful of people we have to celebrate and live it with that have always been by our side.

Next week is our bye week so we’ll be heading to Austin for a few days for work and then down to Pensacola to enjoy a few slow days with my dad and family. I’m so excited for a few days away in the sun to enjoy together in the midst of the rush of season.
